Education Theory and Learning Styles
| Here we have some
food for thought for those who like to
ponder and debate various educational
strategies for massage. Much of what we
encounter in such discussions is simplistic
and reactive. Far less frequently do people
delve into understanding the diversity of
learning styles and strategies to discuss
how to best train and encourage kinesthetic
practitioners. |

Braddock Body Process — Traditional
therapeutic approaches to treating trauma
survivors focus on survivors' words about
their mental processes. The Braddock Body
Process®, described in Body
Voices, was developed in response to the
author's observation that many survivors
have no voice to express the kind of anger,
sadness, frustration, or pain they
experience. Instead, they suffer in silence. |

The Focusing Institute — Focusing
(Eugene Gendlin) consists of specific steps
for getting a body sense of how you are in a
particular life situation. It begins with
the body and occurs in the zone between the
conscious and the unconscious. Peter Levine
(Waking the Tiger) uses the "felt sense"
work of focusing in healing trauma. |

V-Day: Until the Violence Stops —
V-Day is a global movement to stop violence
against women and girls. V-Day is a palpable
energy, a fierce catalyst that promotes
creative events to increase awareness, raise
money, and revitalize the spirit of existing
anti-violence organizations. V-Day helps
these organizations to continue and to
expand their core work, while we generate
broader attention for the fight to stop
worldwide violence. |
